This Privacy Policy describes how mew.city ("we", "us", or "the Service") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and mobile application.

1. Information we collect

• Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address and a username you choose.
• Content you provide. Photos of cats you submit (sightings), names and descriptions you add, memes and stickers you create.
• Location data. When you log a sighting, we store the approximate location of the meeting to link the cat to a neighborhood or area. Exact coordinates of sightings are never displayed publicly.
• Usage data. Basic analytics about how the app is used (screens viewed, features used) to improve the Service.
• Device data. Device type, operating system version, and app version for debugging and compatibility.

2. How we use information

• To recognize cats you photograph and connect sightings to existing cat profiles.
• To show you updates about cats you have met ("Cats I Know").
• To display cat profiles, neighborhood pages, and shared content to other users.
• To improve recognition quality, app stability, and features.
• To send service notifications (for example, "a cat you know was spotted again"). You can manage notification preferences in the app settings.

3. Location and privacy of cats' owners

We take the privacy of cat owners and feeders seriously:

• Exact GPS coordinates of sightings are never shown publicly; only a generalized area (such as a neighborhood) is displayed.
• Home addresses or precise private locations can be hidden or corrected upon request.
• A cat's owner may claim and verify a profile and request removal of unwanted photos or location data.

4. Sharing of information

• Photos and profiles you make public are visible to other users and, if shared via a link, to anyone with that link.
• We do not sell personal information to third parties.
• We may share data with service providers (hosting, analytics, image processing) strictly to operate the Service, under data processing agreements.
• We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

5. AI and image processing

Photos are processed to find matching cats among those seen nearby, to select the best image, and to create cutouts for avatars and stickers. AI assists with suggestions; the final identification decision is made by users. Sightings are real facts — AI-generated content is clearly marked as an entertainment layer and never presented as fact.

6. Data retention

We keep your content for as long as your account is active. You can delete your photos, sightings, and account at any time from the app settings. Some data may remain in backups for a limited period before being permanently deleted.

7. Your rights

• Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
• Export your data (photos, sightings history).
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

8. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or under the age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

9. Security

We apply industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls, regular reviews) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work continuously to keep your information safe.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision.
